how they got started
In the beginning, guitarist, Brian May, and drummer, Roger Taylor, formed a band called Smile in 1968 with Tim Staffell, who was actually Freddie's roommate. In 1970, Tim left the band and that lead the way for Freddie Mercury to take over as the lead singer. About a year later bassist, John Deacon joined the band and Queen was formed and the rest is history.
